Welcome to my blog.
I have never written a blog before, hardly ever written a diary either, but decided that a blog would be a nice compliment to my new journey - Style Diary NZ.
A little about me. I am a 38 year old wife and a mother of 3 who lives in Auckland NZ.
I am originally from a village in Northamptonshire, UK.
My partner and I moved to NZ in 2005, the intention was for 2 years. 13 years later we are still here, we got married here on beautiful Waiheke Island and now have our young family growing up here.
My children are 6, 5 and 5 months - so its busy round here.
I've always had an interest in clothes, shoes & accessories - which girl doesn't!
I have never been a follower of fashion, as in wanting, needing or desiring the latest trend off of the catwalk - I mean practicality people!
I have always loved trying to recreate looks my own way, or I do #Instastalk and Pinterest follow some of my favorite people for inspiration, tips, tricks and ideas.
A few years ago I thought about being a personal stylist, but then I had 2 very small children, was a stay at home Mum and I just thought it wasn't achievable, also that there were plenty of great stylists already out there, so kind of regrettably now nothing ever came of it.
I started to follow more image consultants, stylists and bloggers and the more I read and learnt from them the more it stoked my fire to want to do this as I had done many years prior.
I enrolled in an online stylists course. I knew this wasn't compulsory to becoming a stylist but I wanted something to compliment my role and also to learn more at the same time.
Enrolled, completed a few assignments and then fell pregnant with my third baby. I worked as hard as I could to get more assignments completed, with 2 little kids and a growing belly it became hard to find the time so 2 months before her due date I took a break from study. I am now back into the course and have 2 final assignments to complete.
I started off a Facebook and Instagram Page - @stylediarynz and took sometime to make those platforms public. I don't know what was holding me back. Maybe in my subconscious mind I thought why would anyone follow me, book for my style & shopping sessions or wardrobe edits as there are plenty of amazing stylists already out there... but then I thought, no you know what this is my dream, its what I want to do and I have put it off for too long already. The only thing stopping me, was me! I hit publish and shared that with my family and friends initially via my personal Facebook and Instagram pages.
I know this is a busy journey to start with such a young family, but one day they will be all grown up and then what - then follow my dream when I am really old hehe!
We all want to follow our dreams, make it a reality, be successful and make our loved ones proud of us, so that's where I am right now.
Do I regret not doing it sooner....yeah maybe.....am I glad to have finally took the bull by the horns now and make something of this - Yep I sure am.
Its going to be new learning for me, developing this blog, engaging with social media followers and hopefully having some wonderful ladies book me for a fun time creating some style magic with them.
Thanks for reading thus far....now to go draft my next blog installment and get this party started!
